Understanding TAC claims
Please note that this is general advice only.
About TAC
The Transport Accident Commission (TAC) is a Victorian Government organisation that helps support people injured in transport accidents in Victoria.
The TAC has two main purposes. First, it can help cover the costs associated with a claim if you’re injured in a road accident.
It can also provide access to benefits and support if you’re injured on the road, regardless of who caused the accident.
Strict time limits apply if you’ve been injured in a transport accident and wish to make a TAC claim.
Can I access compensation if the other person can’t be identified?
It's possible, but it can get tricky. The TAC can want some specific evidence to show the other party was at fault. Getting proper legal advice can help make sure your case has the best chance possible of being approved.
TAC claims may not be your only option after a motor vehicle accident. A legal expert may also be able to help you find your best option moving forward.
What if my claim was already rejected?
Even if your claim was previously rejected, we may be able to help you appeal or find a more suitable path to compensation.
Many rejected claims can be successfully challenged with proper legal representation and supporting evidence. We specialise in helping Victorians challenge their claim's rejection.
Even previously denied claims may be reviewed and overturned.
Are there time limits for making a claim?
Yes, there are strict time limits that apply to TAC claims, as well as other forms of compensation available. It's important to act promptly to protect your rights. Contact us for a free assessment of your specific time limits and eligibility.
You may be able to claim for:
Hospital and medical expenses
Injury rehabilitation expenses
Pain and suffering
Loss of income
