Naomi Hatcher

Naomi is a Special Counsel working to lead investigations in Shine's Class Actions team. Based in Shine Lawyers' Sydney CBD branch, Naomi is committed to obtaining justice for group members who have been wronged by major corporations and institutions.

Prior to joining Shine Lawyers, Naomi gained more than a decade of experience in complex litigation and class actions, acting in some of Australia's largest shareholder, superannuation, consumer and fraud-related matters. Working alongside barristers, experts and litigation funders, she managed large-scale document reviews involving millions of documents, drafted pleadings and affidavits, prepared matters for trial and appeared in the Federal Court. Throughout her career, she has collectively secured well in excess of $200 million in compensation for group members.

Drawn to study law through a deep belief in access to justice and the power of litigation to promote accountability, Naomi is passionate about standing up for everyday Australians who have been wronged by large organisations. She is motivated by the real difference that class actions can make — enabling individuals who may not otherwise have access to justice to collectively hold powerful institutions to account.

Committed to giving back, Naomi served as a grant writer for Women's Community Shelters and as Chair of a firm Women's Network community initiative, working alongside not-for-profit organisations focused on advancing the interests of women and girls. Earlier in her career, she volunteered with Caxton Legal Centre, providing face-to-face legal assistance across family, criminal and consumer law matters. Naomi also contributed to legal scholarship, co-authoring an article published in the Australian Law Journal examining security for costs in Federal Court class actions.
