James is a Special Counsel with Shine Lawyers’ Class Actions team and advocates for people who have been wronged by governments, businesses, financial institutions and other organisations.
Based in Shine’s Melbourne office, James brings a strong background in high-stakes litigation. Prior to joining Shine, he was a barrister at the Victorian bar where he acted as counsel in many high-profile trials, appeals and commissions of inquiry. James began his legal career in the commercial litigation practice of a top-tier law firm, where he primarily represented large corporate defendants in shareholder and mass tort class actions. This experience gives him a well-rounded perspective on class action litigation, allowing him to anticipate opposing strategies and advocate effectively on behalf of his clients.
Known for his sharp analytical skills and strategic thinking, James greatest strength as a lawyer is his ability to quickly analyse complex legal and factual issues and develop clear, practical strategies aimed at achieving the best possible outcomes. His approach is both meticulous and pragmatic, ensuring clients are supported every step of the way.
Outside of his legal work, James maintains an active lifestyle. He plays football in the Victorian Amateur Football Association and has previously competed in boxing in both Australia and the United Kingdom.
