Philip became interested in a legal career while working as a claims officer for various insurance companies. While still employed in the insurance industry, he began studying part-time in order to complete the Barristers and Solicitors Admission Boards examinations through the Law Extension Committee of the University of Sydney. He was admitted in 1988 and holds a Diploma of Law.
After he was admitted, Philip spent several years in general practice in country NSW before starting work with an insurance practice in Canberra. He gained experience in motor vehicle, workers' compensation and public and products liability claims. Eventually he moved to Sydney and reached partner level in a leading insurance practice. This was followed by a move with his family to Queensland where he undertook personal injuries litigation and again reached partner level in a leading WorkCover practice. After spending much of his early career acting on behalf of insurance companies, Philip now works on behalf of claimants with Personal Injuries his primary area of practice.
A Nationally Accredited Mediator, Philip is an experienced and accomplished problem solver. He thrives on challenges such as working with a complex piece of legislation, solving a tricky liability situation or rebuilding a 1972 Land Rover (his current after-hours project).
