To make a difference in people’s lives. That’s what motivated Paul Zapata to become a lawyer and what continues to drive his work. As Legal Practice Manager, Paul brings his considerable experience in compensation law to Shine Lawyers’ Carindale branch.

“I want to stand up for injured people, who are often in one of the worst, most stressful positions in their lives, against large insurers who deal with these claims day-in day-out.”

Paul has worked across many areas in personal injury law, including claims related to mining injuries while he worked in Rockhampton. Before joining Shine Lawyers, Paul had also practised in Abuse Law, assisting victims of child sexual abuse.

Paul studied law and business at the Queensland University of Technology, graduating in 2012. He has previously worked in the banking industry, but ultimately decided to pursue a legal career because he wanted to do something where he really felt he could help people in a much more tangible way.

“In my role as a personal injuries lawyer, I get to use my skill and expertise to make a difference for my clients, tipping the scales in their favour.”

Through his career, Paul has volunteered at various community legal centres in the Central Queensland and Moreton Bay regions.
