Lakni is an accredited social worker with a deep appreciation for multidisciplinary social work. She provides compassionate mental health support for Australian survivors of institutional child sexual abuse.

Lakni is a highly experienced accredited social worker with Shine’s mental health support team. Committed to practising in a person-centred, trauma-informed way, Lakni supports survivors of institutional child sexual abuse through their legal claim.

Prior to joining Shine Lawyers, Lakni worked across Victoria’s leading non-profit social welfare, homelessness and specialist public mental health services. Lakni has also worked in a child and youth psychiatric service in regional Victoria, providing trauma-informed mental health support for young people, including early intervention and treatment of issues related to developmental trauma.

Lakni has helped create and deliver a pilot mental health and trauma training program, which was successfully implemented for families and carers in regional Victoria. Being part of this pilot program affirmed Lakni’s passion for helping people understand mental illness. Empowering people through psychoeducation is a key part of Lakni’s work with survivors of abuse, as part of our mental health support team.

Committed to supporting her local community, Lakni has volunteered as a CFA general firefighter and as a telephone support worker at the Women’s Information and Referral Exchange in Melbourne’s CBD.
