Kathryn is a Senior Associate in Shine Lawyers' Class Actions Practice who works across a variety of large-scale class actions that help thousands of Australians seek access to justice.
“I am passionate about fighting for the marginalised and disadvantaged members of our society, especially in this niche area of law. I am determined to achieve the best possible legal outcome and fight with tenacity, while showing my clients and group members compassion during what can be a very challenging time.”
Prior to her current position, Kathryn was Practice Leader of our Disability Insurance and Superannuation Claims team. Knowing how complex the superannuation insurance claim process can be for those unfamiliar with it, she is passionate about making sure insurers are held accountable for their policies and helping make her clients’ lives easier.
A highlight in this role was when Kathryn was able to successfully defend [at a Federal Court level] her client’s right to receive the death benefits she was entitled to from her late husband’s life insurance. This was an incredibly difficult time for Kathryn’s client who was dealing with the extreme grief of losing her life partner in addition to the stress of fighting not one but two unmerited claims from her late husband’s siblings who were trying to secure the benefits for themselves. For Kathryn it was a privilege to support her client through the legal process and provide her with peace of mind and security for the future.
