Shine Lawyers receives honourable mention in Lawyerly’s 2019 Litigation Firms of the Year
19 January 2020
Shine Lawyers is proud to have received an honourable mention in Lawyerly’s inaugural 2019 Litigation Firms of the Year list.
Shine Lawyers was acknowledged for one of the most significant rulings of the year, the landmark judgment in the Johnson & Johnson Prolapse Mesh Class Action. The judgment was delivered by Federal Court Justice Anna Katzmann in November 2019, who ruled that the J&J pelvic mesh devices in question were “not fit for purpose” and of ‘unmerchantable quality”.
The findings in the class action, the largest women's health class action in Australia’s history, opened the way for thousands of compensation claims against the medical giants. “It has been a long journey towards justice for the many women whose lives were destroyed by the defective pelvic mesh and incontinence tape implants,” said Shine Lawyers’ Special Counsel for Class Actions Rebecca Jancauskas.
