The Cronulla Sharks rugby league team has today been fined $1 million by the NRL over the ongoing ASADA scandal.
As part of the penalty, Coach Shane Flanagan has been suspended for 12 months and former strength and conditioning Coach Trent Elkin also faces an indefinite ban.
Isaac Gordon came to Shine Lawyers about the 2011 supplement program earlier this year, after emerging from a game in May 2011 with complications. In an almost identical complaint to Gordon, Josh Cordoba then also approached Shine Lawyers for help against the club.
Shine Lawyers Principal James Chrara said today’s announcement by the NRL was a welcome step toward helping his clients to right wrong in their current legal battles.
“We are very pleased to see the NRL taking this action against the club and coaches for their failure to safeguard the health and welfare of the players.
“This decision has vindicated our clients’ claims and we will continue to do our utmost to ensure we can achieve the best possible outcome for both Josh Cordoba and Isaac Gordon,” he said. Written by James Chrara
