Congratulations, Clare Eves. The head of Shine’s medical law team has been announced as a finalist in the Lawyers Weekly 2018 Women in Law awards.
Now in its seventh year, the Women in Law awards celebrates the women who have challenged, influenced or enhanced the practice of law in Australia.
Clare has been nominated as a finalist in the Special Counsel of the Year category.
Clare’s legal career began in the UK in 2001, practicing exclusively in plaintiff injury litigation. In 2008 she immigrated to Australia and joined Shine Lawyers.
As National Special Counsel and Practice Leader of Shine’s Medical Law Practice, Clare is an expert in her field. With over 15 years’ experience she represents individuals who have been harmed by the actions of healthcare professionals.
Since 2015, Clare has focused exclusively on medical negligence, specialising in birth trauma and injury resulting in Cerebral Palsy, delay or misdiagnosis of serious spinal conditions resulting in paralysis and misdiagnosis / delayed diagnosis of strokes and brain injuries.
She runs a team of medical negligence lawyers with a combined 75+ years of qualified practice. Her team works closely with clients and their families and they’ve won a number of landmark cases resulting in unprecedented damages.
Clare’s expertise has led to a number of media outlets both state and national seeking her out for comment. She has been featured on the ABC, in the Courier Mail and on both Channel 7 and Channel 9. She has also presented at a number of industry events including the Australian Lawyers Alliance State Conference.
The Special Counsel category of the Women in Law Awards recognises outstanding performance by an individual at a special counsel level within a private practice law firm.
The winners of this year’s Women in Law awards will be announced at a black tie evening on Thursday 22 November 2018 at the Sofitel Melbourne.
