I came to Shine Lawyers in 2004 having migrated from my native Scotland where I practiced defendant litigation, advocating on behalf of some well-known insurers. I look back on that experience as invaluable to my current role within Shine Lawyers Special Counsel. Forearmed is forewarned as they say, and being able to view a case through the eyes of your opponents is necessary when standing up for the rights of the little guy.
Early in my career, I remember the feeling that preceded my first ever trial in Scotland – the palpable realisation that we, as lawyers, are entrusted with a significant responsibility when asked to fight for what is right at a time in our clients’ lives when the stakes are very high. That feeling is something I continue to carry with me each and every day.
As Shine Special Counsel, I aim to provide an advocacy service deserving of that trust and to ensure that the client’s voice is heard. I believe that the role we play can have a profound impact on the lives of our clients, and I know that everyone in the Special Counsel team feels the same way.
