Stress Down Day

Today is Lifeline’s national Stress Down Day. This day aims to reduce stress by dressing up and having fun at workplaces, schools or homes while also raising vital funds for Lifeline. It is important for Australians to recognise stress all throughout the year, not just today as research shows that 74 per cent of Australians have reported being stressed from work.

All individuals experience stress at some point, it is a natural human response to pressure and when we are faced with challenging situations. Here are some tips for how to manage your stress:

  1. Be aware – make sure you monitor your stress levels
  2. Take stock – consider the things in your life or pressures you place on yourself that could be increasing you stress levels
  3. Take charge – it is important to deal with these causes of stress early on before they become bigger problems
  4. Make choices – look at areas in your life where you could manage a situation better or change the way you respond, this may help decrease stress
