At Shine Lawyers we’re proud to support our clients and the communities where we work and live. In our Client Charter we commit to helping more people and communities access the justice they deserve through pioneering innovative ways to deliver legal services.
Wherever we can, we lend a hand. Whether it’s through our staff’s dedicated volunteer leave, supporting charitable organisations, or helping Reconciliation Australia realise their vision through our Reconciliation Action Plan, our people are dedicated to giving back to our communities.
Each year we donate to charitable organisations that promote prevention, rehabilitation, education or safety programs for people impacted by injury, injustice or adversity through our Shine a Light Foundation.
Everything we do is focused on delivering on our purpose of “Shining a light on injustice and making the world a better place, one client at a time”.
Shine Lawyers Community Programs aim to:
- Promote and stand up for positive social values within our communities
- Give back to and build relationships within the local areas we work in
At Shine Lawyers, we support events and organisations which share our values and make a positive difference to the communities that our clients and team live and work within. We align with likeminded organisations who are passionate about making life better for people. Whether it’s our sponsor partnerships, development of preventative education programs or pro-bono work, these initiatives help us to give back to the Australian communities we serve.
Shine Lawyers Community Volunteer Program
At Shine Lawyers, as part of our Recognising You framework, team members are encouraged to live our value of ‘Always standing up for the little guy’ by accessing specific paid volunteer time to assist a worthy organisation or charity. Our legal teams also volunteer to work free of charge for a number of charities and community groups to assist the marginalized and vulnerable on a case-by-case basis. Our pro bono and social justice work covers many areas of law and enables us to provide legal representation in cases of special public interest.
Some thoughts from team members who have participated in volunteering recently:
“It is fun being a part of a caring team who are just keen to come down and give a helping hand to those in need.” - Anthony Lau, Senior Solicitor
"I enjoyed meeting people from different walks of life and hearing their experiences. Everyone is trying their best with the circumstances they find themselves in, so it was a privilege to be able to be there and help them. I will definitely be involved again.” - Megan Carter, Administration Assistant | Paralegal
