Derya wanted to make a beneficial difference in people’s lives while being challenged to solve problems intellectually, so a career in Law was an ideal fit. Passionate about her clients and the work, Derya is a sympathetic legal professional who consistently treats clients as individuals rather than as numbers.

After graduating in 2011 with a Bachelor of Laws with Honours / Bachelor of Business (Accounting) from Victoria University, Derya began working in a personal injury firm in the final year of her studies and progressed to a traineeship from there. She has worked at a law firm representing the Victorian WorkCover Authority in WorkCover claims, so with worker’s compensation as her primary practice now she has knowledge of how the other side works. She has also worked in the Road and Work Injuries team of Maurice Blackburn prior to joining Shine Lawyers, which has also given her extensive experience in Road Accident Injury Claims.

Derya enjoys helping people from all walks of life to navigate their way through a complex and often difficult scheme. By making the process easier and providing the right support, she helps to ensure that just and adequate compensation is delivered. She values seeing her clients getting their lives back on track at the conclusion of their claims.
