Shine Lawyers Energy Law Team has voiced it’s concerns over proposed changes to Queensland’s energy and resource sector legislation via a submission to the Agriculture, Resource and Environment Committee.
According to the team, the Mineral and Energy Resources (Common Provisions) Bill presented to parliament on 5th June 2014, proposes to replace five existing pieces of legislation with a single, common resource Act. The submission outlines concerns shared by many landholders and landholder representatives that the Bill would erode landholder rights for the benefit of the mining and resource sector.
The Shine Lawyers Energy Law Team appeared before the Toowoomba public hearing into the Bill on the 19 August and further emphasised these concerns.
