Are you a victim of the Danbowl tax minimisation scheme?
Shine Lawyers have been contacted by a number of Darling Downs residents who were encouraged to participate in a tax minimisation scheme called “The Danbowl Trust Tax Scheme”. Shine Lawyers are preparing a damages-based group action on behalf of the victims of this scheme who have suffered various tax penalties and associated losses.
About the Danbowl Trust Tax Scheme
The Danbowl Trust Tax Scheme was promoted by an accountant in the Darling Downs region of Queensland, as well as the directors of the Danbowl Trust. The scheme was promoted in or around March and April 2002. Various representations were made to individuals, directors of companies and small business owners that the Danbowl Scheme was legal, prudent, appropriate, and sanctioned scheme through which those participating could minimise their tax through the utility of tax credits and unrelated companies.
As a result of the participation in the Danbowl tax scheme, in or around early 2005, the Australian Tax Office audited all participants. As a result of the audit, the Australian Tax Office levied penalties, interest and tax. In addition, participants in the Danbowl scheme have lost the fees invested in the scheme. Shine Lawyers has been retained to act for victims of the Danbowl Trust Scheme, to bring a damages claim for breach of contract and professional negligence against the accountant.
There are strict time limits in which victims of the Danbowl Tax Scheme may be entitled to bring claims. If you or someone you know was involved in the scheme, we urge you to get in contact with Shine Lawyers immediately. We will happily arrange a confidential and obligation-free first consultation. We also offer to act on a no-win, no-fee basis.
